Hola, It's the dog days of summer and as the sun sets and the weather cools I worked on gathering up lots of little tidbits of information that people have sent me and I am now passing on. A couple of cool videos to watch, ceviche and strawberry lemonade recipes, the launch of Crafty Chica products and the incredible Lopez family at the Olympics.
I have been fortunate enough to connect with some great Latina entrepreneuers across the nation this past year through phone calls and emails. None of us have actually ever met in person (we all live in different states) but its been inspiring to chat with other passionate businesswomen to share experiences and give each other encouragement. Kathy aka Crafty Chica has been a big cheerleader of mine and I love her company and everything she does. So I'm very excited to see her dream come true with the launch of her own line of retail products in Michaels Stores. Go Kathy!
¡Felicidades! Darlene

Crafty Chica in Michaels Stores
|
Kathy Cano-Murillo of CraftyChica.com is known for her use of intense colors, freeform collages, and inspiring blog posts, books and TV appearances. Now she is gearing up for the nationwide launch of her new Crafty Chica™ product line at Michaels Arts & Crafts Stores in August. "It's like a crafty fairy tale," laughs Cano-Murillo, "I started crafting with my husband 18 years ago as a way to pay the bills. We focused on designs that celebrated our Mexican-American culture because we couldn't find anything cool in stores. Little did I know all of it would lead to this!" Duncan Enterprises knew that Cano-Murillo had found a very important niche within the craft industry and hired her to design the Crafty Chica™ product line. The Crafty Chica product line debuted in 141 Michaels stores across
the country in August and the first
three days of sales alone made everyone's jaws drop.
Meet Kathy Cano-Murillo, the Crafty Chica on the "Spread the Sparkle Tour" during the month of August at
select Michaels stores in Arizona and California . The Murillos will be
showing off and demonstrating their new Crafty Chica product line, as
well as showing samples of finished project, signing books and more!

Lopez Family at Olympics
|
I took Taekwondo as a kid and all I remember was knocking myself on the heads with the nunchucks. The Lopez family obviously stuck with the plan and are all gold medal favorites for the United States during the Bejing Olympics.
Known as the "First Family of Taekwondo" the Lopez's are set to make
history as the first siblings to compete in the Olympics together in over 100 years! The siblings, Steven, 29
years old, Mark, 25 years old, and Diana, 23 years old, have been
involved in the martial arts since their family immigrated to the USA
from Nicaragua in 1972. Watch them compete starting August 20th. Check your local listings for times.

La Pasion de la Decision
|
Something I ran across a couple of months ago and have been meaning to share are these fun telenovelas, produced by Voto Latino and Declare Yourself two non-partisan voter registration groups, targeting young Latino voters.
The telenovela, "La Pasion De La Decision" starring & directed by
Wilmer Valderrama, features Rosario Dawson, Tony Plana, Mayte Garcia, Nick
Zando, with a cameo by Craig Newmark.Written by David Goetsch and Ross Novie with his crew from "The
Office" wih music by Afonico & J Radical.
I think it is so admirable of Rosario to make out with Wilmer for the sake of the country. I love my country too, so where do I sign up for that gig?
